Double Glass Framed Morpho Hecuba
The Morpho hecuba, also known as the Giant Owl Butterfly or Sunset Morpho, is one of the biggest and coolest butterflies out there. Found in the rainforests of Central and South America, these massive butterflies can have wingspans reaching up to eight inches.
Unlike the bright blue morphos most people know, the Morpho hecuba has earthy brown wings covered in huge eye spots that look a lot like owl eyes, which helps scare off predators. But when it flies, flashes of vivid iridescent blue underneath the wings light up in the sun, creating an incredible effect that’s both beautiful and useful for throwing off anything trying to eat it.
